Trigonometry Made Easy

A young woman named Carol Anne (Bonnie Hunt) and her husband Tom (Michael McKean) are temporarily separated, but a poem she reads and believes is penned by him causes her to think they may make amends. She visits a bar with her friend, Janice (Pamela Reed), expecting to meet her husband. When Janice briefly excuses herself, Carol Anne approaches the bar. A young man sits beside her and asks her to dance. She is flattered but refuses, telling him she's married. To her surprise, the man, Jeremy (Lenny Von Dohlen), recites the poem she thought was written by her husband. She asks how he knows her. He answers that they both work for Weldon Piano Works. He continues to flirt with her, and she becomes flustered. When her friend returns, Carol Anne decides it best to leave. As she makes to exit, she pointedly meets Jeremy's eyes.

Czech, Please

With her husband upstairs, Carol Anne calls Jeremy, telling him things have changed between her and her husband since they last spoke. When he begins to cry, she agrees to meet him face-to-face.

Jeremy suddenly parks the car in the middle of their drive. Carol Anne, frustrated, tells him she only agreed to meet with him to say goodbye. He swears nothing will happen unless she wants it to happen. He comments on her appearance, and Carol Anne finds what he says touching. Startled by his frankness and the truth of his words, she drops her wedding ring and says aloud, "Please let me find it, and I'll never think of cheating again." Jeremy stops, happy to hear this. Carol Anne denies having said it.

Blow Off

Carol Anne tells Jeremy not to call again. It could ruin her life. Her husband enters the room and tells her he's planning on moving to Romania. He's already rented an apartment there and wants her to live with him. As soon as he leaves, she calls Jeremy and asks him if he's doing anything tomorrow. How would he like to get together and ruin her life?

At work, Jeremy sneaks into the ladies' locker room to speak with Carol Anne, saying he can't wait until tonight to see her. She stops him, telling him she said what she did earlier because she thought she'd be leaving. Jeremy vows that he'll follow her wherever she goes. She replies that she loves her husband and might be able to love Jeremy as well, but she doesn't have time because she has to move. Alone, he sits down, trying to recover. Within seconds, Janice, Carol Anne's friend and the company's cleaning person enters. She observes that Jeremy is different from most company employees and offers him coffee. She asks how he takes his coffee. He answers with three sugars, and she stops, hearing him. She'd previously said she would know her ideal man when she saw him because he would take his coffee as she does, with three sugars.

Janice hosts a birthday party for her daughter (Sara Rue). She tells Carol Anne that her luck has changed; she's met someone. A storm begins to rage, but Janice's daughter doesn't want anyone to leave her party until her ex-boyfriend appears. Jeremy visits to make sure Janice is well amid the tornado warnings. Carol Anne jealously watches Jeremy and Janice, who very obviously are attracted to one another. Everyone enters the small trailer as the storm worsens. Inside, Carol Anne intentionally spills food on Jeremy while passing. "It didn't take you very long, did it?" She says. "Did she walk in the locker room after me?" Jeremy shrugs.

Suddenly, a tornado whisks the trailer away, leaving an empty lot where it once stood.

The series was renewed for a second season, but the showrunners decided to essentially start over from scratch, erasing several characters and placing those remaining in completely different storylines. Jeremy sadly did not return.
