Josiah’s (Ron Perlman) return coincides with the death of a local woman. Cyrus Poplar, a Pinkerton detective (Lenny Von Dohlen), is vocal with his belief that Josiah is the killer. Whoever murdered the woman has struck before; the detective has been on his trail.
Another attempt is made on a woman’s life. When the men investigate, they find Josiah’s knife at the scene.
Poplar tries to question Josiah again, but he will not respond. A friend pleads with him; his life is in jeopardy, but Josiah flies into a rage, saying he will be a sacrificial lamb.

When Cyrus searches Josiah's room, he uncovers a bag of minted coins like those placed over the victim's eyes. When Josiah is arrested, his friends try to prove his innocence and discover a long-kept secret. Will Poplar find evidence that proves Josiah culpable?
