Broken Horses tells the story of two brothers who share a deep bond after the murder of their father. The eldest brother, Buddy (Chris Marquette) is manipulated into killing the man a gangster Julius Hench (Vincent D'Onofrio) claims killed his father.

Once grown, Buddy's little brother Jacob (Anton Yelchin), moved to new York to pursue a career as a violinist. He returns home after eight years at his brother's behest. It isn't long until Jacob is pulled into the dark web spun by Hench, and becomes his brother's partner in crime.

Lenny Von Dohlen has a small role as the town sheriff, Joe. As he is shown during Buddy and Jacob's youths, I have to wonder if he may have once played a paternal figure but his scenes were trimmed.
